Polestar introduced the Precept sports sedan about two years ago. The vehicle gave an outlook on future electric cars of the Swedes. A production version of the Polestar Precept was later confirmed. Now Polestar announced that the Precept model will be launched as Polestar 5 in 2024 and showed the current status of the exterior design.
According to the revised design, the Polestar 5 is still very sporty but has fewer sharp edges and more round rear. The electric vehicle is remarkably similar to the front and sides of Porsche's Panamera station wagon. The current stand appears to be very independent at the back and front, with some of the details differing significantly from the first draft. The manufacturer itself promises an electric, four-door performance GT and provides insights into the design process in a video.
Polestar underlines the challenge of balancing "sensational design" and technical requirements. "It makes me very proud to see how much of the design of the concept vehicle has gone into the Polestar 5 - a great achievement by our designers and engineers," says company boss Thomas Ingenlath.
The Polestar Precept stands for the most important pillars of the brand: design, sustainability, technology, and performance, according to Polestar. The Polestar 5 embodies the company's increasingly independent and muscular design language, which can already be recognized in the Polestar 3 SUV, which is expected to be launched on the market in 2022. However, the technical data of the Precept or the Polestar 5 have not yet been revealed.
Polestar currently has the Polestar 1 hybrid coupé, which will be phased out this year, and the Polestar 2 electric mid-range sedan in its range. All of the brand's new series will be electric cars. A large, particularly sporty SUV is planned before the Polestar 5 in the form of the Polestar 3. The Polestar 4 electric SUV coupe will be priced below the Polestar 3 to appeal to a broader market.
